OOTD 6.22.15:: Cut-Out Chic

Rule of thumb: You can never go wrong with black and white. This winning combo instantly infuses a sense of glamour to whatever fashion permutation your heart decides for the day. Today, I paired my favorite go-to shimmery Allsaints sleeveless black top with my new acquisition from this spring’s H & M collection: the laser-cut, open-weave asymmetrical skirt, in white no less! The architecture of this skirt is simply sublime.The skirt itself is made of the lightest cotton blend and sports uneven lengths throughout the piece, creating this incredibly free-flowing, unstructured look and feel. It literally sways and swishes as you move. It was a bit windy here in Chicago (no surprise there!) so this skirt got a further boost in the aeronautics department. :-)  I will admit — All the fluttering and sashaying brought some stares and second glances as I partook in an ambulatory adventure down Erie Street. It’s all about the movement this summer. Leave your freshly-ironed, structured pants and skirts behind and experiment with fringe or lightweight cut-outs. Let go of your instinctual need to control…
FYI, there’s not much inventory left but if you have time to head over to Target this week, go and check out their summer sandal collection! It’s amazing this season!! White Birkenstock-like comfy sandals with perfectly soft leather hugging the feet, black or brown gladiator sandals with requisite white 1/2 inch platform for casual chic, Dr. scholl’s-esque white sandals with perforated leather (as seen in this post) – All for about $20 a piece!

    Love the black and white theme, and I especially love the sleeveless black top- a great summer going-out staple!
